  Taiwan Song

Oh, Taiwan -- sits alone in the ocean,

A third stop on a Global tour.

Stumbled off of the Cathay Deluxe.

We stood for customs, and were on to that bus,

Here we go again!  Welcome to Taipei.

We're here for a month, and then we'll be on our way.

On and on, on and on, on and on...

It was a cold day in Taipei, when our classes began,

Starring the General, with Bruce -- our main man,

With a stellar cast of art experts -- Oh, Yes!

We all had hopes, but they didn't last!

Here we go again!  My eyelids are closing.

I'd better write a letter, or I'll soon be dozing...

On and on, on and on, on and on...

By the time the slides were over, each butt had a callous,

But, no time to complain, cause we're off to the palace.

For the few that made it, they all had a treat,

Tours by Martha and Billy Lu -- was he sweet.

Here we go again!  Tel me how was bronze made.

And what about painting, music, cloisonné, pottery, ceramics, earth ware, opera, the profs clothing,

And don't forget the semantic derivations of our good friend jade!

On and on, on and on, on and on...

Yes we studied, oh we studied, like we never had,

If we'd "know'd" it, we'd have showed it,

Oh, Bob, what went wrong?  Why did I do so very bad...?

Our Global clothes really gave us the blues,

So we turned to the tailors and their stacks of G.Q.'s.

It simply has to be wool and tailored just right,

So it fits like a glove...but, don't make my pants "too tight"!

Here we go again!  Spending that cold cash.

With Japan ahead; will my stash of cheques last?

On and on, on and on, on and on...

Shopping was easy, and the prices just right...

From books and records, cloisonné and our kites,

It's just a little more -- but will our bags take the load?

Better ship it off before we all hit the road...

Here we go again!  It's "shipping made easy"...

Lay down some money, pack it tight, it's a breezee!

On and on, on and on, on and on...

Well it's Christmas time and the Soochow bells jingle.

We all kept secret as we played our Kris Kringle,

With the beer and candy and backrubs till you drool...

It's just good fun in this season of Yule.

Here we go again!  We're thinking "White Christmas",

Calling home to the families we miss...

"Hello mom... I'm fine... How 'bout you?"

"Can you hear me?  Please speak clearly, I wish I was with you...

There's no snow here, and even though we're not near,

The season's still the same, Merry Christmas to you!"

We grabbed a bus and we all headed south,

With driver, stewardess, and Frank with his mouth.

He told us, all that he knew -- and even some more...

A quick stop for some soy sauce -- this touring's quite a chore.

Here we go again!  We'll be on this bus all day.

How many died when they built that East/West Highway?

On and on, on and on, on and on...

The Bunting Brothers sang a song; took a bath.

The Celibate Sisters "flipped a moon" for a laugh.

A war broke out and we streaked from the tub,

The Bunters lost and they got "Gang-Back-Rubbed".

Here we go again!  Can you go a little lower,

But not so hard and just a little slower... Uhhhh...

On and on, on and on, on and on...

Headed thru tunnels and the mist to the Gorge,

Shredded our shorts on a slide where wafer's roared.

We stopped to dance at the "Disco Aborigine",

Bought some marble, then teetered north past the sea...

Here we go again!  Can you see where this road goes?

Let's stop, wash our hands, and have a bowlful of "noo doles"

On and on, on and on, on and on...

Then Carter went Red, we thought we were dead.

Oh, what would Betty tell our folks?

Would students stone us?  Would Sid disown us?

There's trouble up ahead, and we're caught in the middle again!

We had an earthquake, it made our knees shake.

Who would have guessed it measured 6.8...

Bob was so excited he could hardly stand,

It was a geological Orgazam!

Here we go again!  The exciting world of plate tectonics.

Did you know a new Ice Age is upon us?

On and on, faults and plates, ain't they great...

Taiwan is over, our course work's long done,

We'll grab a flight toward the Rising Sun.

The month went quickly; boy -- you sure can't beat fun.

Just one more line, and now this song is done.

Here we go again!  Time is flying.

If you haven't noticed, this song is dying...

On and on, on and on, on and on...

On and on, on and on, on and on...
